Water Colour Brushes

Water colour brushes are designed to control the flow of colour. The perfect brush will have a fine point, the ability to hold and evenly control colour and should be able to spring back into shape after every stroke.

Remember that being an artist means being creative with all of you painting tools. These categories are only a guide to what paint is suitable for each brush. Don’t be afraid to use your brush with any paint/medium to create you unique finish.

Sceptre Gold II for Water Colour, Acrylic & Oil Colour

The perfect mix of sable and synthetic giving the performance of sable at the price of synthetic. Sceptre Gold II is a range of high quality brushes made from a mix of sable and synthetic fibres. They are ideal for working with water colour and fluid oil colour but are also suitable for use with acrylic, water mixable oil and alkyd fast drying oil colour.

The high proportion of sable in Sceptre Gold II gives the brushes considerably more ability to make larger washes in one stroke than normal synthetic brushes and the hairs are tapered to a fine point, giving the brush control for detailed work.

Mop and Wash Brushes

Soft, natural hair brushes for soft blending and washes.

Cotman Brushes

Light Ox Hair Mottler (Escoda)

Kazan Mop Brush (NAM)

A brown pure Russian squirrel mop brush. Extremely soft and delicate, will not leave voids or hair tracks. Forms an excellent point and is extra absorbent, allowing the brush tip to hold paint exceptionally well. The hardwood handles are lacquer finished for long life. It is ideally suited to ink, water colour and other water based paints.

Chung-king Natural Bristle Sash Brushes (Escoda)

The traditional "sash" is a round brush with a blunt, tapered tip that covers large areas, but with soft edges. It's a favourite of faux finish and decorative painters working on fresco's, murals, and other large projects.
