Acrylic Texture Gels

Acrylic Texture Gels are used to create texture and interest when combined with acrylic paint. Modelling paste can be used to create dramatic shapes and surfaces, while a Structure Gels will add “body” to a painting.  Texture Gels offer a range of aggregate textures suitable for any application in which highly unique surface textures are desired.

Galeria Structure Gel (Winsor & Newton)

Galeria Structure Gel is added to acrylic colour to create a variety of textures. Structure Gel has smooth glossy finish that has a good clarity. This texture gel can be added to paint or over painted.

Galeria Iridescent Medium (Winsor & Newton)

Galeria Iridescent Medium is a medium that is suitable developed to provide pearlised effects when added to colour.

This texture gel is most effective when used with transparent colours over dark under layers.

Galeria Medium Grain Gel (Winsor & Newton)

When mixed with acrylic colour, Medium Grain Gel forms a moderately granular texture. It may be used alone as a clear, textured film, or with added colour.

It may also be over-painted. Medium Grain Gel has been formulated to ensure that the texture is evenly distributed.

Galeria Large Grain Gel (Winsor & Newton)

Galeria Large Grain Gel is a more pronounced textural grain effect than the Medium Grain Gel, providing more visible structure and effect to the colour.

Galeria Mineral Texture Gel (Winsor & Newton)

Galeria Mineral Texture Gel contains medium-sized dark grey pumice particles. It creates a strongly textural and variegated surface.

Galeria Sand Texture Gel (Winsor & Newton)

Galeria Sand Texture Gel is a finer and more consistent texture than the pumice in Mineral Texture Gel. Whilst natural or environmental sand can be added to acrylic colour, any impurities can seriously compromise the chemistry of the paint film.

Galeria Black Lava Texture Gel (Winsor & Newton)

Galeria Black Lava Texture Gel is a granular paste containing fine particles of black flint allowing the artist to achieve a heavier and more pronounced effect than can be achieved with Mineral Texture Gel.

Galeria Glass Beads Texture Gel (Winsor & Newton)

Galeria Glass Beads Texture Gel is composted of small, spherical glass beads suspended in a thick, clear acrylic gel. When used with a transparent colour, the effects are arresting and jewel-like.

Galeria Heavy Structure Gel (Winsor & Newton)

This is the heaviest gel available in the Galeria range. Ideal for creating strong surface texture and very high peak retention. Smooth and flexible. Heavy layers are easily and quickly built. ‘Satin' finish to prevent thick layers from looking too plastic.

Gloss Gel Medium (Liquitex)

A heavy bodied, transparent, gloss painting medium, excellent for textures, glazes and brilliant impasto. An outstanding adhesive for collages. Do not mix with turpentine or oil.

Gloss Heavy Gel Medium (Liquitex)

Extra heavy bodied, retains crisp brush strokes dries glossy and transparent. Mix with acrylic paint for colour blending, extending paint volume while increasing transparency and slowing drying time.

Matte Gel Medium (Liquitex)

Heavy bodied translucent gel medium. Retains brush marks. Mix with acrylic paint to improve colour blending, extends paint volume and drying time. Excellent glue for collage. Do not mix with turpentine or oils.

Texture Gel Blend Fibres (Liquitex)

For adding distinctive texture. Use as a base, or mix with colour. Add Liquitex Gel Medium or Heavy Gel Medium for easier application and to increase adhesion when wet.

Black Lava Gel (Liquitex)

For adding distinctive texture. Use as a base, or mix with colour. When dry, it gives the effect of ground black lava. Black speckled quality is most apparent when mixed with transparent or translucent colours.

Natural Sand (Liquitex)

For adding distinctive texture. Use as a base, or mix with colour. Look of a finely textured glossy "beach sand".

Texture Gel White Flakes (Liquitex)

For adding distinctive texture. Use as a base, or mix with colour. A heavy body, coarse gel, that contains irregular sized and shaped opaque flakes. The white flake texture is most apparent when mixed with transparent or translucent colours.

Matte Super Heavy Gel (Liquitex)

Extremely thick, extra Heavy Body. The thickest "clear" gel. Heavy bodied, very dense, with high surface drag for a stiff "oil-like" feel. Dries clear to translucent depending on thickness of the application. Very little shrinkage during drying time. Excellent adhesion for collage and mixed media. Extends paint, increases brilliance and transparency. Keeps paint working longer than other gel mediums.

Atelier Impasto Gel

A thick acrylic gel for more exaggerated structure and texture. Mix with acrylics for greater brilliance and transparency of colour and gloss. A very effective glue for collage.

Texture Gel Glass Beads (Liquitex)

For adding distinctive texture. Use as a base, or mix with colour. It contains clear, round aggregate that dries to a semi-gloss, reflective ("bubbly") surface. Apply direct or mixed with translucent or transparent colours.

Texture Gel Resin Sand (Liquitex)

For adding distinctive texture. Use as a base, or mix with colour. A very textured gel, thick and coarse-grained. "Rough cement" look.
